This post contains the electrical system reference manual for the Volkswagen Jetta MkV (Bora platform). Useful for diagnosing wiring issues, tracing circuits, or understanding the car's electrical architecture before doing any work.
Resource
The manual covers the full electrical system including:
- Fuse and relay locations
- Wiring diagrams by system (lighting, engine, comfort, infotainment)
- Connector pinouts
- Ground point locations
Manual: manual-bora_by_parasico.pdf — available via the Mk5 Jetta community.
Notes
Before doing any electrical work on the Mk5 Jetta:
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal
- The fuse box is located under the dash (driver's side) and in the engine bay
- Many sensors share ground points — a bad ground can cause multiple seemingly unrelated faults
- VAG-COM / VCDS is invaluable for reading fault codes before chasing wiring issues
